Petty trader Jamal - rent-seeker extraordinaire
VOXPOP 'You begin to wonder how this person gets a car dealership and a trader's licence when the people who really need it are not given a look in.'
Sekinchan man: I'm still a Jalan TAR trader
Absolom: From the very beginning, this never looked like a group of disgruntled petty traders voicing their grouses.
And it is now clear for all to see. Why would anyone want to oppose a peaceful rally calling for free and fair elections?
Because that would mean an end to the corrupt regime and by extension, an end to their handouts in the form of APs (approved permits) and whatnot.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the petty traders. These guys have been milking the country for so long that it is understandably difficult to let go, having built such big appetites.
Anonymous_3f4a: Clearly, Kuala Lumpur Petty Traders Action Council chairperson Jamal Md Yunus is an Umno-crony and not a petty trader per se, otherwise he wouldn't have been given so many government licences.
He carries out the state-sanctioned street demonstrations at S Ambiga's house to spite her for the hugely successful Bersih 3.0.
Anonymous_3e86: Yeah, sure, neither the government nor any politician is behind them. Expect us to believe that? He depends on BN for his APs.
Jamal is a true rent-seeker. He only revealed that he is maintaining his trading licence for the night market, but not who he leases his licence to.
Armageddon: Indeed, Jamal is truly a petty trader. The car business belongs to some minister who wants to stay low profile.
That is why Jamal has to retain the trader licence, just in case his boss fires him from selling cars.
It is just impossible for someone to own and sell luxurious cars but behaves like a roadside gangster.
Karma: We will set up stalls. We will not block the entrance, but the road leading to your entrance. We will ensure you know the meaning of harassment.
We will prove to you what happens when your customers can't enter your restaurant or we will fill up their stomachs before they enter your restaurant.
Think hard 'petty trader' man. One bad action of yours leads to another, and it will crush you.
We will start drawing the same lot outside your restaurant and put a RM2 price tag because you are this cheap - 1,000 times cheaper than Ambiga.
KSD: This is a question no one has asked yet: How come DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) allows his Ikan Bakar restaurant in Jalan Pahang to operate illegally on a thin strip of land that appears to be a drain reserve?
Can DBKL confirm that the land is not DBKL or government land?
Anonymous #15315623: Petty trading is an opportunity for people without much capital to start a business and make a living for themselves and their dependents.
This man is clearly living beyond a simple family lifestyle - he has a lifestyle that even highly qualified professional with decades of hard work can only dream of.
He is even allowed to deprive someone from starting out their own small business by holding a petty trader's licence.
DBKL must act immediately to investigate and take action without delay. This country is taken hostage by people such as this.
Anonymous_3ec6: Puchong folks should boycott this wealthy and arrogant petty trader's Sekinchan Ikan Bakar outlet in Bandar Puteri. Show him who is the boss. Anyway, his ‘ikan bakar' is overpriced.
Anonymous #73251905: You begin to wonder how this person gets a car dealership and a trader's licence when the people who really need it are not given a look in.
We would like to know what this person has done to deserve a datukship, which should be bestowed on people who are reaching out to people rather than helping themselves.
The fault lies with this government, which is immersed in abuse and corruption. They are screwing us and we are letting them do it.
Father and Son: The winds of change can blow in all direction. One fine day, he will be glad that he kept the hawker's license. - Malaysiakini
