CM MUSA AMAN: WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

BEAUFORT: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman said he is ever willing to sit down with any Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders in Sabah to discuss and resolve any issues or problems.

“What is important is sincerity. Not say one thing in front and then something else at the back,” he said, adding that he had never looked down on any Sabah BN leaders.

“To me the Chief Minister post is not a privilege but a responsibility for me to discharge my duty for the state and people,” he said at the launching of the SK Mempagar Alumni Association at the Dewan Baru here Sunday.

Musa who is also Finance Minister, said as the leader in Sabah, he wanted cooperation to be a top priority not only within Umno but also within BN.

“I have said that my door is always open if there is any problem involving either leaders from BN or Umno. We can discuss and solve whatever problem there is,” he said.

He added that in this respect there must also be honesty because the struggle was for the party and coalition, not an individual.

“As long as we struggle for the party and for the benefit of the people, then we are on the right platform,” he said.

Musa stressed that he had no intention whatsoever to politically take down anyone.

“Nonetheless, I believe the people are politically matured now and they know which leader is telling the truth and which one is not,” he said.

In this respect, he advised state BN leaders not to resort to behaviour that would only make the people lose out because the people have done nothing wrong in the first place.

“If there is something that you feel not satisfied just come and see me. I will try to help where I can,” he said, adding that it was important for the leaders to continue to uphold the spirit of consensus in their course of action.

He cited the State Cabinet as a good example of the BN spirit of consensus being alive and well as “there has never been a fight during the Cabinet meetings.”

“I think (Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister) Datuk Azizah Dun can vouch for me as all the decisions made during Cabinet meetings are made through consensus,” he said.

Musa said the State Government used to be in a bad financial shape but now its financial status and management had been acknowledged by the Auditor General to be one of the best in the country.

“If we don’t have money … forget about building a multi-purpose hall that cost a few hundred thousands of ringgit … even a toilet costing RM10,000 cannot be built,” he said.

Musa who is also Sabah Umno Chief, said he had never belittled nor looked down on any other people.

“I get along with with everyone irrespective of race and religion. I have friends of different races and faiths,” he added.

He also advised his colleagues and also the people here to continue cooperate with one another to develop Sabah and Beaufort, in particular, adding that more development would be coming for the people’s benefit.

“What is important is our BN party struggle which had been giving many developments and allocations for Sabah, including Beaufort all this while, so we must be wary of any negative element that may try to split us,” he said.

At the same time, he said it was also important that the people know the country has a capable government with proven track record under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who was always sensitive to the needs of Sabah and its people.

Musa also supported the call by the Prime Minister for all BN component parties to resolve internal problems before the 13th General Election.

“It is time for us to put aside our differences, further strengthen our cooperation and work hard as a team for the party, the coalition and more importantly for the people,” he said. (theborneopost)
