Batu MP Tian Chua ordered to make his defence

PKR vice-president Tian Chua was ordered by the sessions court in Kuala Lumpur today to enter his defence for disobeying police orders to leave a restricted area.

According to Star Online, sessions judge Mahmud Abdullah found the prosecution to have made a prima facie case against Tian Chua, whose full name is Chua Tian Chang, and ordered him to enter his defence.

The Batu MP is charged with not obeying police orders given by Deputy Superintendent A Rajagopal to leave the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) premises on Jalan Semarak, a place classified under to the Protected Areas Order (No 2) 1975, at about 2.30am on April 29.

This took place at the height of the April 28 Bersih 3.0 rally calling for clean and fair elections.

If found guilty, Tian Chua, 49, faces up to two years' jail, a fine or both.

Nine witnesses have testified in the trial since it began on July 23.

The prosecution is led by DPP Mohd Dasuki Mokhtar, while Chua is represented by Latheefa Koya.

Judge Mahmud fixed Nov 29 and 30 for Chua to make his defence.
