CM's son 'sponsored' wedding: Silence from BN

YOURSAY 'There should be 1,001 clauses in the law that would say the CM is guilty. Corruption and abuse of power are a couple of them.'

Malacca state agencies 'sponsored' mega kenduri

your sayP Dev Anand Pillai: Despite all the revelations, most Malays in Malacca will still vote for Umno as they have been ingrained with the thought that public money is for the benefit of the Umnoputras first, and whatever that is left will then trickle down to the serfs who hang on to the coattails.

Nothing will change until the Malays themselves are made to realise that there will be no more ‘free meal tickets' for life being a birth right of every Malay.

Inspektor Klueso: P Dev Anand Pillai, well put. I wouldn't say that all of the Malay race are hangers on to the proverbial tit till they start wearing dentures.

But the day of reckoning is nigh when the udders are rendered barren after the disproportionate slurping by a few for far too long.

LittleGiant: If what is claimed in the PKNM (Malacca State Development Corporation) document is true, then this ‘mega kenduri' is corruption to the core and a blatant abuse of power.

This involves a BN leader. And so, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be "extremely patient" and wait until a hundred or may be a thousand reports are lodged before it gets the "green light" to proceed with "some kind" of preliminary investigation.

And that so-called "preliminary" investigation could drag on for a couple of years or more. No one should question the delay and no one would be surprised if MACC eventually puts an end to their investigation citing "lack of evidence".

And all corrupt politicians in BN will live happily forever.

Anonymous_4192: What if all these happened in a Pakatan Rakyat-controlled state, and involved the chief minister from an opposition party?

What a ruckus the BN parties, Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, MCA MP Chua Tee Yong and all pro-Barisan bloggers would have created. Why no noise now?

Gordon Gecko: Malacca CM Mohd Ali Rustam, it was your own son's wedding and you can't even pay for it on your own.

Just howler out if you need the taxpayers to pay for your son's honeymoon, treatment at the private fertility clinic, maternity fees, ‘kenduri' for your new born grandson (if any), and when your son takes on a second wife.

Armageddon: There should be 1,001 clauses in the law that would say the CM is guilty. Corruption and abuse of power are a couple of them.

Unfortunately, the BN government mentality is so corrupted they will somehow find that the CM as innocent as a just-born baby. The person who leak the document will definitely ended up in court.

Odin: We have had a birthday party where each guest consumed more than RM700 worth of gourmet dishes, whereas the ‘Beli Rakyat 1Malaysia' handout was only RM500; an engagement dinner party each in Malaysia and a foreign country costing an undisclosed sum (must have been more than one million ringgit); and travel expenses for a big group of the privileged few to attend that other engagement party - all borne by Malaysians.

And now another blatant abuse of public funds and human resources. Truly, Malaysia has been transformed by the ‘Champion of Double Talk' into one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Maplesyrup: If the PM can attend his children's graduation on taxpayers' sponsorship and host his daughter's engagement party serving up Wagyu beef, also at the taxpayers' sponsorship, why are we so indignant about the Malacca CM's function?

Malaysians have to decide. Either we vote out BN at GE13 or we learn to tolerate our leaders using taxpayers' money for their own kenduris.

Supercession: Cheap skate chief minister, it was your son's wedding, so use your own money. It's not like you've not embezzled any.

Wira: Everything is sponsored by the state. However, the groom and his family get to keep the gifts and ‘ang pows' from invited well-wishers. This is a bloody good money-making plan.

JT1E80: It is not whether the wedding was extravagant or not. It is that the CM is using taxpayers' money for a personal event.

Even if it was not extravagant, it was downright dishonest and was essentially stealing from the public. Now what was it we do with thieves?

Anonymous_3e21: Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim was immediately probe by MACC because he donated cows for Hari Raya Korban (who was later cleared by the anti-corruption commission), but with the Umno CM who allegedly abuse public facilities for his son's wedding ‘kenduri', will MACC act as fast?

iKick: This debacle should give the DPM (Muhyiddin Yassin) a good means to kick Ali Rustam hard as he is always a challenge to his position.

In fact, Ali Rustam was found to be involved in money politics at the Umno elections not too long ago, but was somehow given a 'pardon' for fear of losing support from his supporters.

This is Umnoism where everyone works together with the ultra ulterior motive to retain power.

Anonymous #19098644: Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar should lodge an official complaint with the police and MACC. A vote of no confidence should be tabled at the Malacca state Assembly. This is an outright abuse of power.

Anonymous #62268569: Actually there are two Malaysia Book of Records being set here - one, the number of people attending the wedding, and two, MACC for not acting despite clear-cut evidence of corrupt practice.

Anonymous_5fb: This is perhaps 'off balance sheet' financing. Agree, Labis MP Chua Tee Yong? Umno people are experts in this form of financing. - Malaysiakini
