Khairy: Pakatan copied BN's Borneo highway plan

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin has hit out at Pakatan Rakyat's ‘plagiarism’ of a BN project in Sabah and Sarawak.

Debating the budget in the Dewan Rakyat this afternoon, Khairy said the plan to construct a Pan-Borneo highway in Pakatan's alternative budget is in fact a BN policy.

"The Pan-Borneo highway (idea) was plagiarised. They are well aware that part of that highway is already under construction," he said.

The comments came in a bid to puncture Anwar's budget argument, in which he repeatedly claimed that Sabah and Sarawak have been sidelined in Budget 2013. 

Anwar also had mentioned the Kuching Declaration - a Pakatan commitment to uphold the promises to Sabah and Sarawak in the formation of Malaysia - and reiterated Pakatan's budget plans to hike oil royalty for the two states from five to 20 percent.

Taking the floor, Khairy jabbed at Anwar's call for different individuals to helm the prime ministership and finance ministry.

"If he is so keen on separating them why is the Opposition Leader presenting his budget response speech, rather than an appointed finance representative?" he said.

Khairy then proceeded to hit out at Pakatan for attempting to portray the country's high deficit as a "one-way train".

Contrary to Pakatan's claim, Khairy said Fitch Ratings had reaffirmed that the government had the political willingness to improve the fiscal budget.

"This (shadow) budget is not worth the paper it is printed on. Lies! Lies! Lies! Thankfully it was not tabled in Parliament or we would be confused. It is filled with mistakes," he charged.

Khairy concluded by singing the praises of BN's budget and reiterating his claim that Pakatan's budget would bankrupt the country.
