Noh Omar hits out at Selangor MB for spurning plea from PKNS house owners

TANJONG KARANG, Oct 6 — Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim should not spurn a plea made by a group of residents from several housing projects developed by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) for it to settle their outstanding home loans, said Selangor Barisan Nasional.
Its deputy chairman, Datuk Seri Noh Omar (picture) said the state government should be more sensitive towards the welfare of the people, especially low-income earners.
He said it was unbecoming of the Selangor government to treat the issue as petty.
“The people came for the aid of the MB (Menteri Besar) for his expertise to solve their problem. Why didn’t he find a way to settle their debt with PKNS,” he told reporters after launching the Agricultural Products Mini Carnival here today.
The residents, now living in PKNS projects in Section 7, 16, 18 and 20 have urged the state government to order PKNS to settle their home loans totalling RM15 million.
The reasoned that if PKNS could order its subsidiary, Selangor Industrial Corporation Sdn Bhd to take over Talam Corporation Bhd’s debts, it could do likewise on their loans as they came from poor families.
Abdul Khalid was quoted as saying that if the house buyers were poor they could seek help from the Selangor Zakat Board as some of them did not live in their houses, instead they rented them out. — Bernama
