BN wins ‘AES vote’ in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 — The Transport Ministry’s estimated expenditure under Budget 2013 was passed in Parliament today, in what the federal opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) MPs said was a vote on the controversial Automated Enforcement System (AES).
A heated debate on the AES issue led to Parliament voting on two orders, with Barisan Nasional MPs beating the PR MPs twice by 78 to 49.
PR leaders have claimed on Twitter that the votes were actually for the AES scheme, where cameras catch speeding motorists and those beating the traffic lights.
But Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha told reporters that the voting was only for his ministry’s budget and has “nothing to do with AES”.
