PULAU AMAN- A police officer has been tranferred out from the Prai police station following the alleged rape of an Indonesian woman by three policemen there early this month.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said the officer who ranks as an inspector was relieved of duties as an officer-in-charge at the station immediately after the incident on Nov 8.
'We have asked him to report for duty at the logistic department in the Seberang Prai Tengah district police headquarters.
'The reshuffling is needed to boost the morale within the force,' he said.
Asked on the police image which has been tarnished, Abdul Rahim said the incident was an isolated case.
'We have taken the necessary action to move the officer in charge out after a series of meetings with him,' Abdul Rahim said.
