MORE MUSA AMAN SCANDALS: Come clean on RM275mil Swiss bank scam

A PKR-linked pressure group has urged Sabah chief minister Musa Aman to come clean over the allegation against Swiss bank UBS for money laundering on his behalf involving some US$90 million (RM275 million).

"Musa Aman remains silent whether on the RM40 million illicit money scandal or the money laundering allegation in Switzerland which clearly involves hundres of millions of Malaysian ringgit and Michael Chia," said the group's Sabah coordinator Erveana Ansari in a statement to Harakahdaily.

Chia, a businessman closely associated with Musa, was caught red-handed in 2008 at the Hong Kong International Airport with cash amounting to some RM40 million.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Aziz has come to Chia's defence, saying the money was meant as donation for Sabah UMNO and not for Musa. Following this, Nazri had himself been exposed for his family's links with Chia.

The investigation on Chia later led to revelations of how the shady tycoon had been playing a central role in cashing in kickbacks from timber companies given concessions by Yayasan Sabah, the state body under Musa .

Based on a complaint by Swiss based Bruno Manser Fund, Switzerland's Attorney General opened a criminal investigation in August against UBS over money-laundering amounting to RM275 million.

Jingga 13 called on Musa to tender his resignation "If he had any dignity and self-respect left".

It added that the case had embarassed Sabahans due to the involvement of the state's top leader.

Erveana also added that the fact that some 255 Sabahans had applied to be plaintiffs in the case showed that it was a serious criminal case.
