KOTA BELUD, Dec 14 — A leader is judged by his sincerity in leading the people, not by his position, Sabah Umno deputy chairman Datuk Seri Salleh Said said today.
Hence, Salleh(picture) said the relevancy or irrelevancy for a certain leader to voice out certain issues was not that important.
“What matters most is the sincerity of the leader to serve the people without thinking much about positions,” he told reporters after opening the district-level Maal Hijrah celebration at the Kota Belud Community Hall here.
He was commenting on Beaufort Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin’s criticism on his recent statement on the opposition pact’s “touch-and-go” politics.
Earlier in his speech, Salleh, who is also Sabah State Assembly Speaker, called on all Muslims to put their faith and belief as a priority.
“This should be the pillars for Muslims development and unity to improve their capability and knowledge in all aspects of life,” he said, adding that Muslims should stay united and work closely with the non-Muslims to maintain peace and the country. — Bernama
