Former Dang Wangi OCPD Mohamad Zulkarnain Abd Rahman could not identify a single police officer accused of police brutality during Bersih 3.0 from 10 videos shown to him, despite watching them several times..
“...from the subordinates to the deputy OCPD. Nothing,” Zulkarnain said, adding that he believed this was because the police officers involved were from contingents of the other states.
Further complicating matters, he said, was that police arrived at Dataran Merdeka in stages, with some arriving a day before the rally and some arriving on the morning of the rally on April 28.
Zulkarnain was the district police chief during the pro-clean elections rally, and had testified before the Human Rights Commission public inquiry on the matter on Sept 24.
During his testimony, he was shown 10 video clips of police brutality and he had promised the inquiry panel that he would return with the names of those involved and their officers.
Zulkarnain was recalled to testify today, more than two months later, but he could not provide the evidence required.
