This Saturday's Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat (people's uprising rally) organised by Pakatan Rakyat in Malacca has been forced into an 11th hour shift to another location when the venue owner was allegedly subjected to Umno threats.
"Previously, the owner had issued a letter of agreement to lease the land, but he contacted us this afternoon saying that he is withdrawing the agreement on grounds that some parties had threatened him," claimed Malaca PAS secretary Asri Sheikh Abdul Aziz in a statement issued today.
He said the land owner was too scared to lease the venue to Pakatan upon receiving "various threats" from Umno and the BN.
The event, initially scheduled to take place at a vacant piece of land in Kampung Bukit Palah, has been relocated to another vacant lot behind the Malacca DAP headquarters in the city centre.
