Land handed to Kelana Jaya Umno, says Subang Umno

Subang Umno has now passed the buck over to Kelana Jaya Umno acting chief Yahya Bujang over the issue of a condominium now sitting on piece of land obtained cheaply from the previous BN Selangor government for “community purposes”.

NONEAlthough admitting that Subang Umno received the land for the purpose of erecting the division party’s headquarters, former Subang Umno division chief Mokhtar Dahlan (right) said the land had, however, been handed over to Kelana Jaya Umno following a re-delineation exercise in 2004.

"Subang Umno applied for the land and obtained it, and after the re-delineation was done, there exists two divisions, namely Subang Baru and Subang Lama”.

Subang Baru, he said, remained as the Subang Umno division while Subang Lama division is now known as Kelana Jaya.

According to Mokhtar further, Umno had directed that all assets of the division be divided following the re-delineation, and so it was divided equally with the new division.

However, he had decided that the land in contention be given to then Subang Lama Umno division.

“I handed the land to Subang Lama division as the land transaction was done under Yahya,” said Mokhtar when asked on the issue following a recent visit by a DAP delegation to the land.

Yahya has been informed

Mokhtar said he had personally Yahya of the allegations made by DAP.

“I expect him (Yahya) to explain the matter after he comes back from overseas next week,” he said.

NONEOn Tuesday, it was reported that the a DAP delegation, led by its national publicity secretary Tony Pua (left, in photo), visited the land alleged to have been purchased by Umno in 2004 at RM1 per square foot (psf)

They found that the land had been developed into the 200-unit Suria Damansara condominium, which they claimed is now worth RM200psf.

The project was launched in 2006 and is now fully occupied and Pua, who is also Petaling Jaya Utara MP, had claimed that the condominium is now priced at RM450,000 a unit.

It was reported last month that Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim (centre, in photo) had revealed that between 2000 and 2008, BN component parties had acquired 24 plots of land in Selangor at a mere price of RM1psf.

Ng, who was also present during the visit to the condominium, had initially estimated the total value of those lands at RM20 million but later revised it to RM300 million after factoring in the appreciation following the developments conducted on them.

However, Selangor Umno information chief Abdul Shukor Idrus had replied that the cheap lands were used solely for the community’s interests such as or the building of community and multi-purpose halls.
