MCA blasted for spin on 'land for MBship' fracas

DAP has slammed MCA Youth for continuing to distort the facts to support the latter’s ‘land for MBship’ issue related to Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham’s recent ownership of a Kelantan plantation company.

“MCA Youth secretary Chai Kim Sen is advised to first and foremost find out the truth rather than relying on hearsay before launching the attack on DAP Perak with the allegation of ‘land in exchange of MBship’.

“If Chai is unsure about the history and background of the appointment of the (Perak) MB, he is to be reminded now that the three parties in Pakatan had submitted one nomination each for the MBship...

NONE“His royal highness the sultan of Perak had chosen from among them, Mohd Nizar to be the MB. Is Chai and MCA now questioning the prerogative and decision of the sultan?” said DAP Canning assemblyperson Wong Kah Woh in a statement today.

Wong (right) also took a swipe at Chai, pointing out how the latter managed to cite Slim Umno rep’s purported expose during a state sitting, showing documents allegedly proving Ngeh’s alleged wrongdoings when the MCA Youth secretary was not present at the sitting.

“The document shown by the Umno representatives was in fact a Sale of Shares Agreement which was dated 2012, directly proving that the whole land transaction was an open market transaction with proper consideration...

“This is a slap on BN’s own face but Chai has chosen to treat it as something special for him,” said Wong.

The Canning rep also responded to Chai’s call for Ngeh and his cousin, Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming, to declare their assets, saying, “The question now rests on the BN ruling state government, whether or not they dare to declare their assets since they are in the office now?

“Or would they again used the excuse ‘afraid of personal safety’ as an excuse not to do so?” quipped Wong.

Meanwhile, MCA has continued to harp on the issue where Ngeh and Nga had, with a group of other investors, bought over the company Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd this year, long after the issue of Nizar’s MBship in 2008 had been settled.
Not so green DAP
Upayapadu in 2006 acquired 10,526 hectares of land from the Kelantan government for plantation purposes.

NONEHowever, Kelantan MCA Youth chief Gan Han Chuan recycled inaccurate reports in Umno-linked Berita Harianthat the forest was being logged, labelling DAP as hypocrites over the latter’s environmental stand.

“DAP’s manifesto of environmental protection should be soundly criticised as they are nothing more than empty promises to fish for votes.

“In reality, DAP has wreaked severe damage on the environment and depleted green lungs. DAP is an absolutely hypocritical party - saying one thing, but performing the exact opposite,” said Gan in a statement today.

“DAP’s so-called anti-pollution stance is purely a performance. They are simply hypocrites acting entirely on political interests.

“Now that DAP has stakes in this personal interest of theirs, the concept of looking after the environment is shoved completely behind,”  he added.
