PR's three-state weekend tour drew TENS OF THOUSANDS
Pakatan Rakyat’s nationwide roadshow series called 'Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat' continued to attract large crowds, where tens of thousands attended its weekend stops in Terengganu, Penang and Perak.
In Dungun, Terengganu, more than 50,000 people attended the programme on Friday, before the 'PAS Ganti UMNO' programme the next day featuring Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and president Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang.
The event also saw corporate figure Mokhtar Abd Hamid announcing his membership in PAS.
“Once upon a time, UMNO was struggling for people and religion, but now it is like a train out of its tracks. It has lost its way,” said Mokhtar, urging Malaysians to united to stop UMNO's menace.
In his speech, Nik Aziz, quashed at rumours being disseminated about his health.
“My secretary told me that people in UMNO were saying I was sick. I told myself that in that case, I must attend," he told the crowd.
On Saturday, about 15,000 braved heavy rain to gather in Nibong Tebal for HKR's Penang stopover (pic above), where top PR leaders who spoke included PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim
The rally then moved Parit in Perak, drawing some 20,000 people to hear speeches by Hadi, Anwar and DAP central committee member Tan Seng Giaw.
Last weekend, the HKR event in Pahang attracted 30,000 people, who witnessed the launching of the coalition's '6+3' manifesto catered specially for the state.
