ESTABLISHED......KR1M store at Inanam
DOMESTIC Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Government has allocated RM60 million in 2013 to bear the cost of transporting goods to Sabah and Sarawak, including subsidized items to be sold at Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M).
“This is the government's commitment to ensure the rakyat including those in Sabah and Sarawak will be able to buy essential items at reasonable prices," he said when opening KR1M's 85th store in Semenyih, Selangor here.
According to Ismail Sabri this move would allow more KR1M shops to be opened in the two states, that currently have only 2 stores located in Tuaran and Inanam in Sabah and another 2 stores in Kuching and Padawan in Sarawak.
The government plans to open 57 more stores in Sabah and Sarawak in 2013 to ensure more people are able to use the facility.
Ismail Sabri said entrepreneurs and co-operatives in the two states would manage such stores. (Insight Sabah)
