Muhyiddin: ‘Why do we need a change?’

BENTONG, Jan 12 — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin emphasised that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government has brought peace and prosperity for all Malaysians.

Therefore, there was no reason to change the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, he said.

He advised people to evaluate what was happening in other countries and compare it to their lives in Malaysia.

“We have a good government and a good economy, so why do we need a change?” he said during the 1 Malaysia People’s Gathering at Dataran Karak, near here today.

There were more than 30,000 people at the gathering, including Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob; Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai; Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob; and Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon and Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.

Muhyiddin said people should not be influenced by the opposition parties who lied about various matters and twisted them for their own narrow political interests.

“So, people must evaluate what is true and choose the party which can genuinely ensure their well-being,” he said.

He further stressed that BN was able and had the capacity to continue providing protection, well-being and prosperity for its citizens.

This was proven by how impressed foreign parties were with the Malaysian government’s efficiency in successfully administering the nation to ensure its multi-racial society lived in a peaceful and safe environment, he added.

“There are those who say Malaysia’s multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-cultural society would experience continuous racial crises. But we’re clearly capable of ensuring peace and prosperity,” he said. — Bernama
