Puspahanas missed completion date target

PKR's Rafizi Ramli says Awan Megah Sdn Bhd should be dropped from the multi-million defence project for exceeding signed land bond expiration and completion dates.
PETALING JAYA: Rafizi Ramli today revealed that the multi-million Puspahanas project awarded to Awan Megah Sdn Bhd has well exceeded its agreed completion and land bond expiration dates, and urged the inexperienced developer to be dropped immediately from the project.
The PKR director of strategy said construction work on the project by Awan Megah – owned by Selangor Umno Wanita leader Raja Ropiaah Abdullah – started in August last year, a far cry from its signed completion date of Jan 24, 2011.
Additionally, Rafizi revealed its RM72.5 million land bond had expired on Feb 3, 2012.
“The Defence Ministry should be firm and drop Awan Megah Sdn Bhd when it failed to complete the Puspahanas project by the fixed completion date, that is in January 2011,” he told a press conference here.
“It [Defence Ministry] also has every right to liquidate the land bond at the end of the bond period and reappoint a new developer,” he added.
Rafizi explained that when a developer is awarded a project, they must abide strictly by the agreed timeline.
