SUPPORT FAIR WAGES FOR SABAH

Dear Editor,

ONCE again let me urge every indigenous (Bumiputra) political leader in Sabah, Muslim & Christian clergymen/clergywomen, very NGO who are so conscious about fairness and equality, men and women who love wearing green/yellow T-Shirts, and every Sabahan who has a heart and soul to empathize with the plight of workers who are abused and payed wages below poverty lines.

The issue of fair wages provides Sabahans with a unique opportunity to unite and call for the eradication of unfair wage policies by employers in the state of Sabah.
The Ministry Of Human Resources must explain very clearly what a minimum wage is all about and do provide concessions when necessary.

The Ministry Of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs must be in full alert to curb unfair price hikes due to the minimum wage issue.

Has MTUC Sabah made any stand on the issue of minimum wage?

Could the Consumer Association Of Sabah(CASH) explain why mix-rice in Kota Kinabalu cost RM5/-?
Could the political parties such as STAR, SAPP, PKR/Sabah, DAP/Sabah, etc. make a clear stand on the minimum wage issue.

Unwittingly the presidents of FSM, KKCCCI, IMCC and the DAP/Sabah politician may have stepped on a landmine.

There is a learning point from their incoherent press statements and ramblings. Do you know what it is? Unknowingly or unsuspectingly they may have just given BN/Sabah a much needed boost for the coming G 13.

Best Regards,

DOMINIC GERARD JOSEPH
