ALOR SETAR- UMNO Youth machinery across the country have been instructed to be more active and to start making their final preparations to face the 13th general election, on Feb 1.
Its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, had also given the green light for Umno Youth machinery at all polling district centres (PDM) to start implementing their programmes.
Umno Youth machinery must ensure that all voters, especially the new ones, will cast their votes on the polling day, he told reporters after attending Kedah Umno Youth committee meeting here today.
He said Umno Youth had also taken a micro approach to ensure that each message would reach the people at the grassroots.
"In today's programme, for example, we choose to go to the PDM in Taman Wira (Alor Setar) and Kubang Betung because there are many new voters there," he said.
About the candidates for the next general election, Khairy said although Umno Youth had left it to party president to decide, he still hoped that the party leadership would consider fielding candidates among Youth members.
He also said that a gathering of youth would be held at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here on Jan 31 where Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had been invited to deliver his message.\ -- BERNAMA
