ANWAR IBRAHIM IS NOW HUGUAN SIOU?

By : MATTHIAS HERMES
KOTA KINABALU : As if the ‘Allah’ issue has not done enough damage to the racial unity-and-harmony of this unique nation that is proud of its racial harmony, now another race-and-culture-sensitive issue has ensued.

Not only that, this latest controversy involving opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has heightened the ‘Anti-Malaya’ sentiment among the native people of Sabah.
This happened when the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Ranau decided to bestow PKR de facto chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim the coveted-and-sacred title of ‘Huguan Siou of Malaysia’, during his visit to Kg Paginatan in Ranau, to grace a political gathering there on Sunday. Huguan Siou means Paramount Leader for the Kadazan Dusun community.

This has sparked a furor and strong protest among the Kadazan Dusun community in Sabah, with many questioning its appropriateness and demanding for an explanation from the party involved in this matter.

Many have since expressed their anger through Facebook in response to a posting of the incident by Jonathan Yasin, Ranau PKR Chief which features a photo showing Anwar wearing the Kadazan Dusun headgear and a sash bearing the ‘Huguan Siou’ title around his shoulder with the caption: “DS Anwar Ibrahim telah dinobatkan sebagai Huguan Siou Malaysia di Kg Paginatan, Ranau-10/2/13” (DS Anwar has been coroneted the Huguan Siou of Malaysia in Kg Paginatan, Ranau 10/2/13).

The said posting received more than 350 comments and shared by more than 50 people, with most of them expressing their disapproval and disgust against such an act which they deemed a gross insult to the Kadazan Dusun community.

One top commentator, Amylia G Joannes stressed that the title of Huguan Siou is the highest honour of the Kadazan Dusun community and is only bestowed to a member of the community who is truly qualified and deserving of such a title.

“Everyone realizes that Huguan Siou is synonym to the Kadazan Dusun. Hence one must understand that when someone mentioned about Huguan Siou, automatically people will refer to the Kadazan Dusun community. So, it’s better to use other name (on Anwar) so as not to create any confusion and uneasiness to others,” she said.

Another commentator, Gaman Kodou expressed regret that such a coveted, sacred title that is exclusive to the Kadazan Dusun community has been given to someone who is not only an outsider, but also who has not contributed anything to the state.

“Now that even the supreme title has been bestowed to a non-KDM and an outsider, imagine what else will be given away to the Pakatan Rakyat government if they come to power in Sabah? And they got the cheek to talk boast about safeguarding Sabah rights? This is what make us doubtful of the true objective of Pakatan Rakyat,” said another commentator, David Tiptop.

Bonaventure Petrus Lim asserted that Huguan Siou is Paramount Leadership of the Koisaan and no one from outside the KDM community can be bestowed such a title.

Wilfred Gaban, a potential candidate for Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) commented on his Status: “Ini lah di katakan kurangajar punya orang Dusun, penghianat orang Momogun. Traitor to Sabah! Bikin malu orang Momogun. Cowards and kiss ass slime dog. No pride and dignity! Ini kah pemimpin Dusun kamu mau ikut? Bikin ketawa punya Dusun.”

Another commentator Ben A Gampangang called for an explanation of such an act by those who are involved.

There were also comments that were sarcastic in nature like one Ronnie Dimuk who congratulated the person who was responsible for bestowing the said title on Anwar.

“Maybe this person (who bestowed the title on Anwar) is too well verse with the custom and culture of the KDM community. But, I still think that it was a politically-motivated move by the person involved who could be eyeing for candidacy for the coming 13 general election, without any consideration of its impact on the KDM community,” he said.

Here are some of the comments that are well-supported i.e. ‘Liked’ by others in the said post.

Victor Isidore James: SO… Pelik tapi benar… Kita mesti mengerti apa maksud Huguan Siou dan Huguan Siou utk Gelaran Bangsa Mana….. Huguan Siou adalah Perkataan KDM dan d guna pakai Utk Pemimpin Atau Ketua bagi Suku Kaum KDM…. Jangan sama skali d Politikan Bangsa…. Politik is Politik… Bangsa dan Agama tetap d utamakan….. Jangan cuba utk terikut ikut Politik Malaya yg mempolitikan Bangsa N Agama…. Melantik Seseorang yg bukan KDM sbg Huguan Siou adalah sesuatu yg melampau Taksub n mengkhianati Bangsa KDM sendiri….. Apa2 pun PRU13 adalah penentu….. INI KALI LAH…… P/s: Dalang Peberian 800,000 IC Projek d Sabah adalah DSAI n Mahatir semasa menjadi PM n TPM……. Fikir2kan dan Renung2kan..

Gaman Kodou: Sya pun orang Ranau jg Amylia…

LAIN KALI LA TUKAR!!

Hidup Hugan Siou Malaysia – Anuar. Hidup KDM ranau yang telah bijak berfikir . Semoga KDM maju di bawah panji panji Huguan Siou Malaysia . Tapi saya mau ketawa la, WAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH

Sirena George Arei….. Ini kali lah PKR, bukan saja berhasrat mau tukar kerajaan tapi mau tukar org KDM jadi Melayu. Dengan bangganya lagi korg umum DSAI jadi Huguan Siou… Shame to the KDM’s who made this decision, it sounded so desperate and it really show that U guys a not fit for the political post, belum jadi pemimpin suda sanggup gadai bangsa sendiri. Kalau org yg bertanggungjawab made this decision org Rnu, it’s a total humiliation to Rnu ppl, bagus pack ur bag and move to peninsular lah jadi Melayu baru puas kau panggil DSAI ni Huguan Siou!
