Malaysia imposes anti-dumping duties on steel makers
Malaysia will enforce anti-dumping duties on a number of companies from Taiwan, China, Indonesia and South Korea that export steel wire rods to Malaysia, the Ministry of International Trade and Industries said in a statement.
The Malaysian government launched an investigation after Amsteel Mills Sdn Bhd, a unit of Lion Corp Bhd, claimed that imports of steel wire rods had caused "material injury" to the domestic market as they were being priced much lower than their prices in their markets of origin, the ministry said.
The measure will be effective for five years from Wednesday, the ministry said.
It did not disclose the name of the companies that would be hit by the anti-dumping duties.
