Najib wants Muslims to strengthen unity

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said Muslims in the country must unite to strengthen national unity for a more harmonious future.
Citing the conflict in Gaza between Hamas and Fatah, he said unity is the pillar of a respected and sovereign government.
"During my recent visit to Gaza, I told leaders of Hamas and Fatah that they must unite to create a strong government. Unity is important to Muslims as disunity will be disastrous," he said at Prophet Muhammad birthday celebration organised by the Muslim League at Masjid Kapitan Keling at George Town last night.
Also present were the Prime Minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Penang Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman.
Najib said in order to acquire wealth and develop the economy, the government has not forgotten the principles of justice which has become the basis of national unity.
"It cannot be denied that the Indian Muslim community has contributed much to the economy by opening grocery stores and currency exchanges.
They make huge profits and are among our taxpayers." He also expressed his thanks and gratitude for the contribution of RM2 million by the Muslim League to the 1Malaysia People's Foundation.
The money will be distributed to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and 'madrasah' across the country.
