SEREMBAN- We should not listen to rumours spread by certain parties if we want to ensure the unity we have built to continue.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the way the country come together in unity is unique and not many countries can repeat the feat.
He said these parties spread hate and rumours to break up and divide the different races in the country.
“This unity is what makes our nation strong and we should do whatever we can to keep that going,” he said before opening the Barisan National 1Malaysia Chinese New Year open house.
Mohamad said he did not expect such a turnout.
“I hope the food is enough, we did not expect such a crowd,” he joked drawing laughter from the crowd.
He said this proves the people know who to support to ensure this unity lasts.
“Next month we will come together again, to vote. Lets vote for Barisan National to ensure this unity never dies,” he said.
State MCA chairman Senator Datuk Dr Yeow Chai Thiam said the annual celebrations by the government gave the people the opportunity to come together in harmony to celebrate festivals.
“The leaders provide us with an opportunity to rub shoulders with them and are very open to the people,” he said.
The open house that was held in the Seremban town hall was attended by some 3,000 people where they were treated to performances, dinner and a lucky draw.
