KUALA TERENGGANU -- Despite his tight schedule, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took time off to pay his former bodyguard a surprise visit at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) here this afternoon.
Najib had just officiated Terengganu's "Promises Fulfilled" Tour at Dataran Shahbandar here before proceeding to visit Abdul Wahab Abdul Latif, 54, who is hospitalised with a chronic disease.
The Prime Minister accompanied by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said spent about 15 minutes to enquire about Abdul Wahab's health and visited other patients in the same ward as well.
When met by reporters, Abdul Wahab said he did not expect the Prime Minister to visit him and he was deepy touched by Najib's gesture despite having long left the profession.
"He could still recognise me. I am very grateful that he remembered my service," he said. Also present was his wife Zaini Ismail, 49.
Abdul Wahab served Najib when he was Education Minister and Defence Minister.
The Prime Minister later attended a closed-door meeting and High-Tea with state Barisan Nasional component party leaders at Ri-yaz Heritage Resort, Pulau Duyong.
