Opposition full of lies as polls draw near, says Muhyiddin

KANGAR, Feb 8 — Deputy Prime Minister and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it has become the norm for the opposition to hurl all kinds of lies at the government and make empty promises to garner the people’s support as the 13th general election draws nearer.
Muhyiddin (picture)cited one of the empty promises as PAS’s Orange Book, saying the party claimed it contained a much better plan than the Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s 2013 Budget to develop the country and ensure the people’s welfare.
“We have studied the book in detail. If we implement the Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s plan, the country can go bankrupt by 2015,” he said.
“Anwar’s claims that the country’s deficit is increasing and the government has no money is baseless and a big lie,” he said when speaking at the 1 Malaysia Blue Wave People’s Gathering at Dataran Datuk Sheikh Ahmad here last night.
Also present were Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu, MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung and BN component representatives, with an estimated 6,000 people in attendance.
Muhyiddin said the government was capable of implementing various assistance programmes for the people early this year, including the 1 Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and early school aid without borrowing money, which proved the opposition’s claims as lies.
“He (Anwar Ibrahim) is angry with the government, so he goes abroad and bad mouths the country. This is a traitor’s characteristic,” he said.
He added that BN was serious in defending every race and to do the best for the nation’s future.
At the end of his speech, Muhyiddin offered affordable housing the people of Perlis at below RM150,000.
“If the state government wishes to have it, identify a site and we’ll build them,” he told a told a cheering audience. — Bernama
