PAS warns 'instant citizens' not to vote

The "instant citizens" in the country who have been given the right to vote by the ruling government were today warned by PAS election director Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli not to cast votes in the coming general election.

NONEPAS is working together with the NGO Asal Bukan Umno to track them down, Hatta (right)said, and "we will frighten" these people, who have been awarded citizenship for supporting the ruling BN government, not to vote.

"We will ensure that those who cast votes are truly Malaysians," he said at the Pakatan Rakyat convention in Shah Alam today.

Pakatan, Hatta said, would also take steps to ensure one-on-one contests in all the 700 state and parliamentary constituencies.

He said Pakatan was in the final lap to the 13th general election, with PAS having been prepared the past two years.
“Pakatan has all the ingredients to ensure success and we are in the final lap of resolving the seat distribution. We will resolve the allocation of seats before the election is called.

“This is to ensure that when election comes, there will be one-on-one contest with the BN in all the seats,” Hatta said.

Malaysia has 222 parliamentary seats, with the remaining being state assembly seats.

NONEEarlier, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said Pakatan was not only ready for the pivotal GE13, but was also prepared to govern Putrajaya.

Azmin said the opposition would present to the people something that would be truly progressive.

“We will reform the economy and this will not be based on race but on the needs (of the people).

“We will dismantle the racist agenda of Umno and of (non-governmental organisations) Perkasa and Jati (led by former PAS leader Hasan Ali). Let us together dismantle their racist agenda.

“We offer a good alternative, namely a clean and credible leadership, which is the most important asset of Pakatan. We have PAS mursyidul 'am Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, Lim Kit Siang and Anwar Ibrahim.

“We are not only ready for the election but we are ready to win Putrajaya and lead the country. Let us march to Putrajaya for the betterment of Malaysia,” Azmin declared, using the Latin term carpe dium or “seize the day”

DAP: People want a government with integrity

DAP deputy chairperson Tan Kok Wai said Pakatan was in top gear as it entered into the final weeks before GE13.

“The BN thinks it will remain in power forever. We are united in defeating BN, and not only that, we will have a big win with a thumping majority,” Tan said.

He said Pakatan was approaching the general election on a new perspective, being very united in its campaign to serve all ethnic communities.

“We will move as one entity. We pledge that whoever the candidate is for Pakatan Rakyat, the person will receive the full support of all component parties. We will ensure that all PKR, PAS and DAP candidates will receive the full support of all parties,” Tan added.
