JELEBU, Feb 11 – The Malaysian society, comprising various races and religions, need each other to ensure the country continues to progress and prosper.
Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the progress and prosperity achieved by the country so far was a testimony of the unity and solidarity shown by the people.
“Our success today is obtained through unity among the people and this enables the government to implement various policies for the good of the people.
“We need each other. The Malays need the Chinese people, the Chinese people need the Malays. Likewise, the Indians need the Malays and the Chinese,” he said at a Chinese New Year function organised by the Association of Jelebu Wong in Titi here today.
He said the people should continue to unite and pledge their support to the existing government following its success in bringing progress and prosperity to the people.
Rais, who is Jelebu Member of Parliament, reminded the people to think of the future when exercising their rights as voters in the coming general election.
The people, he said, should make a comparison of what had been done by the existing government to the people with the opposition which was only good at making promises. – Bernama
