Cease using my statements, Musa Hitam tells Pakatan

Former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam today urged the opposition coalition to stop making use of statements he recently made, that the country would not go bankrupt under a Pakatan Rakyat rule, to gain political mileage in the fast approaching general election.

musa hitam wief launch 191006 doorstopMusa (right), who served as a deputy prime minister under former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad's administration between 1981 to 1986, said that Pakatan had been "using" him as a "major weapon" to hit back at BN's arguments that the country would be in financial ruin should the Pakatan regime govern the nation.

"BN seems to have inflicted such a damage to their argument's credibility on this issue that a part of my statement delivered at the speech, allegedly in support of Pakatan, is being displayed and promoted prominently in their (Pakatan) election campaigns," he said in a statement today.

Calling it a "desperate political measure", Musa said that Pakatan's usage of his statements in their campaigns "must stop."

"Without using me, I urge the Pakatan Rakyat to argue it out and leaving it to the good judgement of the electorate," he added.

He went on to stress that he wishes for a BN-win in the looming elections.

"I am an Umno/BN member and by that very same token, I certainly wish the BN to win in GE13. Indeed, I am certain that BN will win this elections," he added.

He said even so, he will continue to express his "personal views", claiming that it was part of freedom he had "always enjoyed" as an Umno member.

"I have no intention whatsoever of re-entering politics. I have thus no political agenda whatsoever, in spite of some rubbish analysis to the contrary," he stressed.

It was reported last month that Musa had said so during his speechat the Bicara Binda series organised by Malay daily Sinar Harian andAstro Awani TV.

Sinar Harian Online had quoted him as saying: "If the opposition were to rule, they would not make foreign investors run away. They will not do so and bankrupt the economy".

Musa currently serves as the chairperson of Sime Darby Berhad.
