JOHOR BARU - DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang has chosen to regard himself as the underdog in the contest against Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman for the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat.
Although the contest between DAP and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Gelang Patah is expected to be intense, he is predicting that the outcome will favour Abdul Ghani.
"I predict my chances (of winning) in Gelang Patah at 45 per cent compared to 55 per cent for the menteri besar," Lim said at the announcement on the DAP candidates for parliamentary and state seats in Johor for the upcoming 13th general, here, today.
After much speculation, Abdul Ghani yesterday when announcing the BN candidates for Johor, confirmed that he would be challenging the DAP stalwart for the Gelang Patah seat, in what is described as a "titanic battle" in the GE13.
Abdul Ghani who has been Johor menteri besar for four terms since 1995, had before this contested the Serom state seat while Lim is the incumbent MP for Ipoh Timur.
