The MCA Pandan candidate, lawyer Gary Lim, said that he was warned of attempts to sabotage his candidacy for the parliamentary seat.
"My car was broken into the day after I got my watikah (letter of appointment), and the bag which I used to carry the watikah was stolen. Luckily, the watikah was not in there.
The Special Branch warned me that there may be attempts to sabotage my watikah," Lim - who is also the Chinese party's legal bureau head - toldMalaysiakini today.
He said this when asked to comment on whether allegations that he is being investigated for misconduct by the Malaysian Bar are part of a smear campaign against his candidacy.
On that matter, Lim (above) said that he is unaware of any investigations and is in turn probing the claim which is being carried by online news portals.
He declined any further comment until he has received official correspondence from the Bar, informing him of any investigation as per procedure or once he has further information of the alleged charge against him.
News portal The Malaysian Insider today reported that Lim faces a hearing before the disciplinary committee of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board after the Bar received complaints of legal misrepresentation and potential fraud against the 38-year-old involving a major legal firm.
