Reveal the list of Indian students

An educationist wants the Matriculation Department to make public the names of all the 1,500 Indian students accepted into the programme.
PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry has been challenged to disclose the names of all Indian students who have been admitted into the 2013/2014 matriculation programme.
Educationist A Thiruvengadam, said although the Ministry announced that 1,500 Indian students have been given seats at government universities, no details have been released.
Newspapers today reported that the Matriculation Department which is under the Ministry of Education, has offered 1,500 seats to Indian students for the 2013/2014 session.
The department said that the education ministry received 6,100 application from Indian students and from the total 1,500 were admitted.
Thiruvengadam, the author of ‘Higher Education for All’, claimed that the news was just an election ‘gimmick’ to win over Indian votes.
“The results for the 2013/2014 intake was released on April 25. Many who had scored excellent results were overlooked. Even my son who scored 10As was rejected,” he said.
He said the department recently announced that only 500 seats were allocated for Indian students and  there was no directive to increase places from the PM or his deputy, who is education minister.
“If we have the list then we will be able to verify the truth…otherwise it’s just hearsay,” said Thiruvengadam.
Last year, the ministry only granted 700 Indian students matriculation seats, leaving another 800 seats vacant.
“I challenge them to reveal the Indian students list before Sunday. Otherwise, we can come  conclude that the ministry is discriminating against Indian students again,” he added.
