SEPANGGAR MP PICKED ON MAYOR

THE SEPANGGAR MP, Datuk Jumat Idris is not being fair to the Kota Kinabalu City Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir when he said in a press statement that Abidin must show his duties or resign from the post to allow someone more capable to take over.

He further said that Abidin is an “agent of opposition”, and he blamed him for not fully utilizing the allocations given by the Prime Minister’s Department and other federal agencies for implementing various projects in Sepanggar.
He further charged that Abidin is an inefficient and unproductive government officer just because he took longer time to spend the money. The extension of the Mayor term for another two years is classified by him as regrettable.

The Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu said he couldn’t agree more to Jumat Idris, when he said “the government officers must give us their fullest cooperation or we should come after them. As the government we must fight for the people, for we are responsible and answerable to them”.

It will be good if all the government officers can do exactly the same like what he wished, but unfortunately it is not the case. Jumat is needed to be reminded that who is actually “steering” the work of the government officers like the KK City Mayor or any other department heads. It is the BN politicians plus the people who holds power.

The federal or other allocations could not be controlled by the oppositions or the people in need. In this case why blame the KK Mayor Abidin, the poor fellow is just executing the instructions and directives from “up stair” or the top brass of the BN.

Hiew said this should not be a blame-game and finger pointing event, but BN government should look back on why the allocations were not spend fully to benefit the people in need in the areas. It is of evident that the allocation RM16.9 billion for Sabah in the 9th Malaysia Plan were not fully utilized, and from the 3,690 approved projects only 2,056 projects worth RM6.81 billion was completed.

What happen to the remaining unused RM10.09 billion and the 843 projects wanted by the people? In the 10th Malaysia Plan (2011-2015), a sum of 20.3 billion had been allocated, and will this sum be used effectively and fully? If that is the case, according to the saying of Jumat, that means the whole lot of the government officers have to resign.

Jumat Idris should ask the BN leadership to “beef-up” and “wake-up” to work hard for the people in the Sepanggar area and especially he himself is the MP now in the area should demonstrate that he can do his job to his best. The people in his constituency are watching and he should not let them down.

He should now work hard with the government officers, giving them the full guidance, assistance, information and encouragement for them to discharge their responsibilities to the fullest and efficiently.

Jumat is wrong to frame the KK Mayor as the “agent of opposition” and asking him to resign after the Chief Minister Musa Aman had granted him an extended term of two years. May be Jumat need to apologize to the Mayor over his statement?

Hiew also wishes to remind Jumat that there is much to do in the Sepanggar Parliament Constituency, and he should spend time to show the people in Inanam, Menggatal, Telipok, KKIP, Karambunai, and Sepanggar Bay area that he can perform well for them. Don’t forget the oppositions are watching him and on what he does!
