Jeram voters 'angry and hurt by PAS leader's wild claims'
The BN’s Kuala Selangor MP Irmohizam Ibrahim has claimed to have received “hundreds of calls and text-messages” from angry voters in Jeram, following a PAS leader’s allegations linking them to his defeat in the 13th general election.
In dismissing Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad's allegations as “baseless and one-sided”, Irmohizam said these were directed at lowering his reputation and credibility in his constituency, which is also his home base.
Dzulkefly (right) - the defeated candidate in the May 5 general election - had claimed that his supporters had been bought over for up to RM1,000 each in cash, and then made to swear a religious oath that they would vote for or, in some instances, had voted for the BN in GE13.
When contacted, Irmohizam, 37, said: “I have received hundreds of calls and text messages from Kuala Selangor voters, especially from the Jeram state constituency (comprising mainly) young voters - who are angry and deeply injured by the unfounded allegations.
“Many said Dzulkefly should be steadfast and mature in accepting the matter as (something destined by) Allah, where the people had decided to choose the BN. He should not create excuses to tarnish BN and Umno for his loss.”
Irmohizam (left) said as a young voter himself in Kuala Selangor, he is saddened by and disappointed with the allegations.
This is all the more so since he respects Dzulkefly as an individual with more experience in politics than him.
“Dzulkefly's attack (seems to) denigrate the maturity of the voters, especially the young Kuala Selangor voters.
“He should apologise and withdraw his wild allegations - or lodge a police report (if he believes the claims to be true).”
