Palanivel just wants one more term, promises change
MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel wants just one more term – and no more – as leader of the country’s largest Indian party. He is seeking re-election at the coming MIC presidential polls.
“This will be my last term with the party. I am however confident that there is general support for me from the party members,” Palanivel said during a press conference here after a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting . He said MIC will also make several amendments to MIC’S constitution in a bid to improve rapport with the Indian community.
This includes limiting the president, deputy president and the vice-president terms to serving only two terms, he added.
"We will also work to allow MIC branch members to elect their division leaders."
At the present moment, only branch leaders are allowed to elect division leaders.
These motions, Palanivel said, will be tabled during MIC’s annual general meeting (AGM) after the party polls end.
(More to come)
