Alvivi duo freed after posting bail, says prison 'not bad'

Sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee were freed today after posting bail of RM30,000, said their stay in detention was alright.

“Not bad,” said a smiling Tan briefly when met outside the court by reporters who asked about the duo’s stay in the court detention facility.

NONEWhen further asked about his eight-day stay in Sungai Buloh prison under remand while Lee was held at the Kajang prison, Tan continued to smile.

Lee meanwhile remained quiet and lowered her head to avoid photographers trying to take shots of the duo.

The duo were brought to the bail centre of the KL High Court at 10am to sign their bond before being released.

Twenty minutes later after the paperwork the duo left the premises in separate vehicles.
Yesterday, the KL High Court set the duo’s bail at RM10,000 on each of the three charges as a condition of their release, along with a host of restrictions that include impounding their passports.
NONEThey have been chargedunder Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948, with making a seditious posting on their 'Alvin and Vivian - Alvivi’ Facebooksite by uploading a photograph of themselves eating bak kut teh with the greeting ‘Selamat Berbuka Puasa with bak kut teh... fragrant, delicious and appetising’, together with the ‘halal’ logo.
The second charge is on the same matter under Section 298A of the Penal Code.
The third is under subsection 5(1) of the Film Censorship Act 2002 for displaying pornographic pictures of themselves on theirTumbler between July 6 and 7, a stunt that had earned them the infamy of being the 'sex bloggers'.
