'KLIA2 delay has no financial impact on MAHB'

PARLIAMENT The delay in the construction of the low-cost carrier terminal KLIA2 has caused no financial impact on Malaysian Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), says the Transport Ministry.

In a written answer to DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said the delay in completion of the KLIA2 "does not affect MAHB's profits at all".

"The company has maintained a ‘Triple A' rating through rating agency RAM Rating Services despite the delay," Hishammuddin said.

However, Pua criticised the reply, saying it demonstrated the ministry's lackadaisical attitude when it came to taking responsibility over the KLIA2 construction delay. The terminal is now due to be completed in 2014.
