Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has instructed the Education Ministry to conduct a probe into an allegation that pupils of a primary school were forced to eat their recess meals in the toilet.
"I have ordered the ministry to investigate the issue of non-Muslim pupils having been asked to eat in the toilet. Stern action will be taken if there is basis (for the allegation)," Muhyiddin, who is also the education minister, said on Twitter.
The social media today carried several pictures of a group of non-Muslim pupils eating what looked like their recess meals in a room that resembled a toilet, with water bottles and meal containers on a table.
Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan said the ministry had instructed the Schools Daily Management Division to relocate the temporary dining place of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana, Sungai Buloh, to a cleaner place considering that the school canteen was under renovation. - Bernama
