RM1m for BN seats, RM0.3m for Pakatan

Anthony Loke cries foul, saying the discrimination mocks all talk of reconciliation.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s annual allocations for parliamentary constituencies held by Pakatan Rakyat range between RM0.3 million and RM0.5 million whereas BN constituencies receive RM1 million to RM1.5 million.
Displaying the prime minister’s written reply to his question in Parliament today, Seremban MP Anthony Loke said Najib had indirectly admitted that there was discrimination against opposition-held constituencies.
Najib said the government disbursed RM1 million each to 85 constituencies in Peninsular Malaysia every year and RM0.3 million each to the other 80 constituencies.
In East Malaysia, 48 constituencies are given RM1.5 million each and nine are given RM0.5 million each.
“This is even worse than what former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawai did before,” Loke said at a press conference today.
“Pak Lah allocated the same amount for all seats although the funds did not directly reach the opposition parliamentarians.”
He said the discrimination made a mockery of Najib’s talk of national reconciliation.
“In fact, it is a national retaliation act against the voters who voted Pakatan Rakyat,” he added.
Loke urged the government to start giving equal funding for all parliamentary seats, saying Pakatan would do the same in Selangor, Penang and Kelantan.
