GREEDY & RUTHLESS, the Umno elite must be stopped before they DESTROY MALAYSIA

GREEDY & RUTHLESS, the Umno elite must be stopped before they DESTROY MALAYSIA
In today’s Malaysia, living conditions and life for a growing number of Malaysians is miserable. This is the reason why Malaysia ranks lowly (46th among all the countries in the world) in the United Nations’ World Happiness Index and a major cause for this is the rise of elitism in the country.
While there are a varied and a number of forms of elitism in the country, it is really the stranglehold of UMNO elitism that is fast destroying Malaysia as a democracy.
The rise of UMNO elitism began during the era of Tun Abdul Razak with the implementation of the New Economic Policy (NEP) in 1970.
While the NEP was proposed and initiated as an affirmative-action program to help and assist the bumiputras (indigenous people) to draw level with the Chinese and Indians in the country to enjoy economic prosperity, the skewered designs of the NEP has backfired and caused elitism to be the end result among the Malay community.
Since 1970, the NEP has caused elitism to evolve among the Malays and subsequently when the NEP was replaced by the New Economic Model (NEM) and now the Bumiputra Economic Empowerment Agenda, the rise of elitism has caused untold misery and oppression among the people.
While the UMNO Malays have prospered and gotten into the “golongan berada” or “have” category (but not through means fair but foul) the majority of Malays fall into the “golongan tak berada” or “have not” category.
What all this simply means is that the Malays in the UMNO elite have, through the use of race and religion and politics, prospered enormously by making use of the large Malay vote base in the country. The UMNO Malays and their cronies have amassed much of the wealth of economic growth that began during the tenure of the Mahathir regime.
Till today, UMNO Malays and their cronies (the elites of the country) play the same game on the unsuspecting and gullible majority of Malays to further their agenda of amassing greater wealth because of their insatiable greed and the use of cunning politics to manipulate the Malay population.
The modus operandi of UMNO Malays
In employing the use of cronies from all races to further their vice-like grip on the wealth of the nation, UMNO Malays have formed an elite union that excludes the majority of Malaysians. The use of race and religion and politics are the favored tools of UMNO Malays to delude the general population of Malays and other bumiputras.
This deception was started by Tun Abdul Razak and strengthened in greater measure by Mahathir Mohammad who used Draconian laws to silence dissent and opposing voices. The mainstream media till today has been financially funded by Barisan Nasional (BN) and its component political parties to promote this deceptive propaganda among Malaysians.
Many Malaysians were buying the bull that was being churned by the mainstream media until the rise and emergence of the alternative media and social media exposed the evil intentions of the UMNO Malay elite and their crony network.
The general deception used by the UMNO Malay elite is that the Chinese and Indians are gunning for the right to take-over the country and govern and that they want to propagate their religions among the Malays and bumiputras.
This scare tactic has worked well among the majority of Malays and bumiputras who believe in these deceptive lies spread by BN and the mainstream media on behalf of the elite so that they can have a grip on the base of power and authority in this country.
The spread of anti-Chinese sentiment among the Malays and bumiputras was especially evident in the run-up to the 13th general elections. The BN and mainstream media, funded by the elite, went into a propaganda overdrive to wrongfully state that the Chinese and to a lesser extent the Indians wanted to grab power through unlawful means.
But the only intent of the Chinese and Indian community ever since they set foot on this land as immigrants from China and India respectively is to be accorded equal rights as they established themselves as citizens and to have fair play, justice and meritocracy in place.
UMNO elite and “The Malaysian Dream”
Instead of being accorded equal rights and enjoy sharing power on an equal footing with the Malays under “The Malaysian Dream,” Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian Indians are being treated as inferior or a lower class of citizens.
While “The American Dream” has translated the dreams of millions of emigrants to America as a reality, the same cannot be said for the dreams of Chinese and Indian immigrants who landed on these shores thanks to the grip and hold on power unfairly and by means foul through the UMNO Malay elite.
The is why the reason for the unhappiness and dissension in this country can be traced to the role of power play that emerges from the ranks of the UMNO Malay elite and their cronies that have oppressed and caused millions of the majority of Malaysians to suffer unfairly.
It is not right to have elite groupings in a parliamentary democracy to hold sway in a country and it is high time Malaysians awaken from their day dreams and go about quickly to destroy the workings of the UMNO Malay elite and substitute the governance of the nation through an alternative form of government.
In this New Millennium, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) shows the mettle of solidarity through the composition of PKR, DAP and Parti PAS to be able to overcome head-on the challenge of destroying the UMNO Malay elite and their cronies and be the preferred choice of the people.
The dire need to destroy UMNO Malay elitism and the crony network
PR must be steadfast to destroy the UMNO Malay elite and their crony network because it is this nexus between BN and their cronies that have witnessed the rise of corruption on a widespread scale that has to be eradicated before it bleeds Malaysia to death.
Malaysia now as a fairly young nation is at the crossroads. There are signs on the horizon that a transition of power is on the drawing board and more and more Malaysians are warming up to the idea of seeing the exit of the UMNO Malays and their cronies.
In perhaps the first time ever since Independence or “Merdeka,” Malaysians are holding their breath and watching and waiting and hoping for the exit of BN who has been the sole beneficiary of power since 1957.
It is easily evident and interesting to witness the fact that Malaysians are sick and tired and fed-up with the antics and ploys of the UMNO Malay elite and want to see them evicted from their hold of power in this country.
Mention must be made also that Malaysians are not alone in their bid to oust the UMNO Malay elite and their cronies. The international community is also beginning to get into the act of casting their searchlight on Malaysia.
The international community is also growingly aware of the rogue play of the UMNO Malay elite and their cronies and are also beginning to play their role by seeking for truthful and accurate information on what’s happening in this country as they no longer consider the Malaysian government and the mainstream media of the nation as credible sources they can rely on.
In the light of these recent and latest developments in the country and the interest of the international community favoring an open and transparent government to be in power, it is only a matter of time before the UMNO Malay elite are dismantled along with their crony network and civil liberties restored in full in this country.
Malaysians of all walks of life should be on the look-out and watch developments as they unfold in this country and be prepared to make the changes and transition that will witness Malaysia’s parliamentary democracy restored and rescued from the grip of the UMNO Malay elite and their cronies.
In conclusion, in saying this, there should be no racial or religious discrimination in choosing the leaders of this country. Malaysians must be mature enough to choose leaders with caliber and capability, irrespective of race or religion.
This is the way forward to turn Malaysia into a Great Nation. And it is now hugely possible. Play your cards right Malaysians and save the nation from the destruction of UMNO Malays and their cronies. - Malaysia Chronicle
