Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary is in advanced direct negotiations with the government to build a multi-billion ringgit sewage treatment plant in a deal that could eventually lead to the privatisation of the nation’s sewerage services operator, Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd, potentially worth RM3.5 billion.
Two sources separately told KiniBiz a Syed Mokhtar-controlled company is close to winning a contract worth up to RM2 billion to build the next generation Langat Centralised Sewage Treatment Plant in Hulu Langat, Selangor.
That company is likely to be Bursa-listed MMC, Syed Mokhtar’s flagship holding company for his construction and utilities assets.
