I urge the headmaster of SK Seri Pristana, Mohd Nasir Mohd Noor, not to take legal action against the mother who had posted onto Facebook pictures of pupils eating in the school’s changing room during recess, which had later caused negative public feedback towards him as well as alleged backlash by the school authorities and fellow pupils against the mother and her daughter.
The incident happened a year ago, and he should let bygones be bygones as the issue has died down.
Besides that, it is also the holy month of Ramadan, and I urge him to not keep his hate and anger inside him, but to move on. There is no need to prolong the victimisation against the parent and her daughter by filing for legal action. Doing so is a reflection of being vindictive and bent on retaliation – traits which a school head must never practise for students and teachers to emulate.
I am sure that the parent who did so, Guneswari Kelly, did it with the best of intentions, just as Nasir had when he asked his students to eat in the changing room.
Also, Guneswari and her daughter were also reportedly harassed repeatedly by teachers and students alike, so much so that the daughter had asked to be transferred.
Thus, I once again urge him to refrain from filing legal action against the mother. Both the school authorities and the whistleblower have faced threats and intimidation over this issue and there is no point dragging it further.
Nasir should take the first step to forgive, as there can be no winners but a revival of this issue if we all practise the belief of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”.
