The Malaysian Insider, its owners Edge Insider Sdn Bhd, editor Jahabar Sadiq, Bahasa Malaysia news editor Amin Shah Iskandar and their lawyers had not received any such notice until today.
The Malaysian Insider has responded to a letter of demand from Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's lawyers and will vigorously defend any law suit if it is filed.
The Malaysian Insider, its owners and editors are mystified that there are reports of such a defamation suit as there has been no such notification.
We are also puzzled that The Malaysian Insider is seen "as if it was running an “anti-Khalid” campaign", as reported by the Malaysiakini news portal when we have endeavoured to cover all sides of the Selangor menteri besar issue.
The Malaysian Insider has attempted to interview Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim over the issues he has mentioned and the ongoing political developments but there has not been a favourable response from his office.
We will go to court and defend our reportage and commentaries and expect a full and open testimony on issues that surround Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and clear all doubts including the settlement of his Bank Islam loan.
Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim holds a high public office as the Selangor menteri besar and he cannot conceal details of his out-of-court settlement on grounds it is a private matter. He is not a private citizen who does not have to explain his dealings to the public.
