‘He was a representative of PKR, but now must go as he doesn’t have its support now.’
Victor Johan: The people in Selangor voted for a Pakatan government and not Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as menteri besar. He was selected via the majority support of the elected assemblypersons.
He is a representative of his party PKR in the coalition. But he has to vacate as he does not have its support now. Whoever has the majority support now should be elected as the menteri besar.
If PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has that support now, it is so clear that she gets to helm that position.
Jiminy Qrikert: There are a good number of opinions here that suggest Pakatan go forward without PAS, including some that want PKR or DAP to contest against PAS.
A good majority of non-Muslim Selangorians will dump PAS if snap polls are called. And as for GE14, regardless of what PAS does going forward over the next four years, the one persistent enduring image many will have of PAS is of a treacherous backstabbing hypocrite.
What PKR and Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim need at this point are strong, staunch loyal friends to stand with them in a crisis that threatens its leadership in Selangor.
Sadly the threat to its leadership comes not just from their sworn enemy, Umno, but from its partner in arms as well, PAS, which has engaged in delaying tactics and come across as waiting for the right opportunity to usurp the leadership of Selangor, by installing its own man as MB.
Such treacherous backstabbing hypocrites will be punished by the rakyat either in the snap polls or in GE14.
Anticommunalist: PAS is looking mischievously at what it can gain out of this impasse. By forming an unholy alliance with Umno, it stands to gain funds for its state government in Kelantan as well as have a chance to co-rule Selangor with Umno and renegade Pakatan members.
More importantly, BN will gain its two-thirds majority and hence the redelineation exercise will be carved out acutely in favour of Malay majority seats. In the long term with Umno imploding and decaying, PAS stands to gain the most out of this exercise at a very opportunistic time.
In future Pakatan will need to come back to the negotiating table with a resurgent PAS, whose stand will be very much more strengthened after more Malay majority seats have been carved out.
Plus it will have a shot at its archaic hudud policy to be implemented. Looks like 'PAS is for all' was a scam to hoodwink the non-Malays all along in the last GE.
Shibboleth: BN boys are trying very hard to stifle their laughter. Stupid Khalid and PAS.
Sleepy: I believe there are elements in PAS that supports Pakatan. That is why Anwar is doing this, to find out who is "for" and "against". I also believe that there are positive Pakatan elements in PAS. Not everyone is the enemy. Hope Anwar succeeds in bringing PAS around.
Khalid, If you feel that you have been wronged, do what Anwar did, feel free to form another party, don't hang on to what others have created.
A businessman once told me "This company I created and developed is like my baby". How appropriate, how relevant
Anonymous_3f49: PAS is not playing ball. In effect it is vetoing the internal decision made by PKR and have placed itself in the minority position. It's all very well to be obstinate and blinkered for no good reason to Pakatan. But where is its obligation under Pakatan to bring about a fresh new dawn to Malaysian politics?
If unwisely, it is not prepared to work with Pakatan, it should remove itself from the coalition as it becomes nonsensical.
Axolotl: PAS is too full of impure elements stuck in a medieval time warp. By impure, I mean cynically using religion to grab political power.
Behsaikong: Anonymous_3f4b says "Anwar is talking ... as usual. Did he move on and accept his fate after Mahathir sacked him from his post as the deputy prime minister and cabinet."
I wonder who is talking ... here? History - not sentiment - will tell people like you that Anwar could not and did not resist his expulsion from Umno nor his removal as deputy PM and from his cabinet posts. He left his official posts instantly. He had no choice in that matter.
The fact was that he launched and conducted the Reformasi campaign as a non-Umno and non-cabinet minister. Khalid Ibrahim is at liberty to do the same of course.
But don't expect the rest of us readers here to buy your "anonymous" views. You don't know the difference between resisting expulsion and mounting resistance after expulsion. Our nation's democratic process cannot run on the rubbish views you espoused here.
Anonymous_40f4: PAS has failed the test, cannot be trusted to be in Pakatan. They always want to sleep with Umno the hyena. PAS is not going to win any more seats in Selangor, and it will lose to Umno. In the Last GE it couldn’t even get the Malay votes. They lost nearly all seats contested to Umno in Negri Sembilan, otherwise Negri would be now under Pakatan.
Anonymous_1395578751: It’s high time to get rid of PAS as it betrayed our trust. If the hardcore still want to join Umno, then PKR and DAP please move on. Get good PAS leaders to join PKR or DAP and the rakyat of Selangor will for sure support a clean government.
Just move on and give the rakyat a chance to decide again. Most of the people of Selangor are educated and will make a right choice. Unless this choice is given, the rakyat will not be able to choose. My view is that Pakatan will win hands down.
Also it gives a chance to BN to see if the people of Selangor support them, as BN always claims. They said before the GE13, but failed badly and Pakatan manage to obtain a two-thirds majority in fact.
So let’s see who will gain if the rakyat is given a chance to decide and choose the Selangor government. Hope there will be fair play from Election Commission too.
Nusantara: The PKR disciplinary committee is a sham and did not follow due process. In view of political sensitivity, the committee should listen to Khalid's explanation on the 13th and decide then. The Selangor rakyat will see this as a respectful and cleaner way.
If Khalid is proven guilty, then it is okay to sack him. Now the majority of the rakyat is confused and cannot understand why PKR acted hastily. Don't play with the power of the Selangor rakyat. They may vote Pakatan out in a snap election.
JustAMalaysian: PKR did not sack Khalid as MB of Selangor because it has no legal authority to do so but it sacked him as a member of PKR because of his insubordination. PKR had the authority to put Khalid up as Selangor MB and has the authority to ask him to go. It is that simple and it is the politics that's practised in every democracy in the world.
Anonymous_3f4b: Anwar is talking rubbish as usual. Did he move on and accepted his fate after Mahathir sack him from his post as the deputy prime minister and cabinet?
He is now asking Khalid to accept the decision of the PKR kangaroo disciplinary committee when he himself did not do it and instead launched a movement against the government spewing allegations of injustice, victimisation and conspiracy.
Khalid has all the right to defend himself against the hurried injustice meted out to him like Anwar.
As usual the same DAP inner coterie of cronies are blinded by Anwar’s sweet talk for the sake of retaining its power base which will slowly but surely erode due to a crisis of confidence as the days wear on.
Guna Otak Anonymous_3f4b: Why should Anwar accept his fate after Mahathir sacked him? Would you accept your fate and keep quiet if someone sacked you unjustly, in your opinion?
Anonymous #40538199: DAP did the right thing. Just like MCA which backs whoever prevails in Umno’s party election. PAS should realise that Khalid couldn’t even retain his divisional post in the party election.
Wira: Doesn't PAS realise that it will always play second fiddle to Umno if it goes into a coalition government with that party, because PAS contests only in seats that are contested by Umno?
After getting rid of Pakatan, Umno will next train its guns on PAS. That happened before in Kelantan. In 2018, PAS/Umno could be contesting mainly against PKR in Selangor. Guess who would be the biggest loser from the 15 seats it holds today?
Malaysia Truly Asia: No one has even given a thought about what Khalid's knows and will do if he is sacked and loses his MB post.
This guy has a lot of ammunition and will also carry a battle against the Anwar dynasty and Azmin Ali. If DAP gets out of this without injury, it can count itself as very lucky. -M'kini
