Frustrated drivers resort to parking haphazardly due to lack of parking bays.
MIRI: Limited parking spaces at Miri General Hospital have continued to cause parking woes which contribute to traffic congestion around hospital grounds.
PAS Sarawak Deputy Commissioner, Jofri Jaraiee, said in a statement that the lack of parking bays had resulted in patients parking haphazardly in lanes or along the roadside.
He said that during peak periods – immediately after work – people would park their cars outside the hospital fence, and there would be a long line of vehicles attempting to exit hospital grounds.
Jofti advised hospital authorities to find a new site which could accommodate more parking bays to avoid traffic congestion.
He suggested that the area next to the Miri General Hospital surau be turned into an additional car park to ease the parking woes of patients and visitors to the hospital.
