Muhyiddin says Barisan Nasional fielding experienced figure to take on challenges of MP's seat
ROMPIN: Former deputy menteri besar Hasan Arifin, 62, was the most suitable person to be Barisan Nasional candidate for the Rompin parliamentary by-election on May 5, Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin said today.
Announcing the selection of Hasan, who is acting Rompin Umno division leader, Muhyiddin said BN was bringing to the fore an experienced political figure who was no stranger to the people of Rompin.
“The party leadership has decided. Hasan is most suitable and qualified to contest as the BN representative in the Rompin election due to many factors, including his vast experience in the business of the party and the government,” he said.
A strong work effort was required for the MP to discharge his duties, Muhyiddin said. After the announcement, he handed over Hasan’s credentials as BN candidate.
