Stressed-out Hasan Malek's ministry calls GST complainant 'MONITOR LIZARD'
KUALA LUMPUR - It seems like the stress of implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) got to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) as well.
The cracks appeared when it’s official Twitter account, @mykpdnkk, replied sarcastically to a harshly worded piece of advice from a netizen.
A user with the twitter handle @ottel, told KPDNKK to “Your side has to monitor the situation and not wait for consumers to make complaints and then only get frantic. (@mykpdnkk pihak tuan kena la pantau jugak. Jangan nak tunggu pengguna buat aduan baru nak gelabah biawak)”
The tweet was in response to KPDNKK’s tweet to consumers urging them to lodge reports if they had to pay more than the original price for mobile prepaid top ups.
@mykpdnkk replied,”We are monitoring the situation 24 hours. We are not as frantic as you. (@ottel kalau awak nak tahu kami pantau 24 jam. Takde pun gelabah biawak macam awak.)
That response drew the ire of @ottel’s followers.
Jack Black tweeted, : “@Khairykj (Is this the way government staff respond?
Asyraf tweeted : “Shameful”
Twitter user @n_azima said: “Oh god, such a professional answer, how old is their admin?”
@mykpdnkk has apparently taken down the reply and posted another which tells everyone that the price of prepaid top-ups should remain the same, with advice on where complaints can be made.
