KUALA LUMPUR - Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's comments could have been taken out of context, says MCA deputy-president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.
Several online portals had earlier quoted Khairy of having said that MCA neither opposed hudud nor brought up the issue for discussion in Cabinet.
"I am unsure if what Khairy said has been taken out of context or if he really said it," he said.
According to Dr Wee, the hudud issue was discussed at three separate Cabinet meetings - on Dec 17 last year, and Mar 20 and Mar 27 this year.
“Yesterday (Sunday) night, the party president and I reviewed the minutes of meetings of the last few Cabinet sessions,” he said, adding that accusations against MCA were grossly unfair to him, party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong who all vehemently oppose hudud. - ANN
