Hasan Arifin, Barisan Nasional's candidate in the Rompin by-election looks set to win the parliamentary seat, which was previously held by the late Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis. – The Malaysian Insider pic by Najjua Zulkefli, May 5, 2015.The Barisan Nasional (BN) is set to retain the Rompin parliamentary constituency as vote-counting for the by-election reaches its conclusion.
According to unofficial figures released by the national news agency Bernama, BN has secured 23,627 votes while PAS has received 14,871 votes, thus making for a majority of 8,756 votes.
As at 9.05pm, BN is ahead at 31 polling centres, while PAS is ahead at four centres.
In the last general election held on this day two years ago, the late Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis won the Rompin parliamentary seat with a 15,114 majority.
