If you are fed up of Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor, don't be discouraged by the shock failure of their Umno party chieftains to censure and remove them for their financial and other shenanigans. If you are a Najib supporter, well, it's time to take honest stock of his performance or non-performance and shift sides before you are remembered on the wrong side of history. If you are a fence-sitter, just sit tight and watch the fireworks set to explode once Umno finishes its elaborate 69th birthday celebrations.
When the RM500,000 commission for Perimekar Sdn Bhd went untraceable in the Scorpene submarines deal leading to the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad who masterminded the removal of the 5th Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, must have realized that Datuk Seri Najib Razak was going to be problematic. Yet he crossed his fingers and hoped for the best.
That was most probably the reason why there was a slight delay in determining who should be the 6th PM, either Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin or Najib. However Dr. Mahathir may thought that whatever the problem might be, it could be tackled and Najib would be grateful with him and Najib would follow his advice if not willing to obey his instructions.
Umno leaders, other BN leaders, the opposition and the political observers have followed and watched every move Najib made even before his appointment as PM, until now. Everybody would evaluate the situation and where possible, try to take whatever advantage from Najib’s actions.
Prosperous couple Najib, Rosmah and their sycophants
Najib on the other hand went on with his own whims and fancies ignoring every criticism, but elated by the support shown by his paid sycophants and ultimately becomes the ‘naked emperor’. His wife Datin Rosmah Mansor becomes the First Lady of Malaysia instead of the Permaisuri Agong (King’s consort). The couple seemed to be having a very happy and prosperous life ever after that.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin and PM Najib
This arrogant attitude showed by Najib only makes his enemies angrier and more determined to oust him, especially those who are not on board the gravy train.
To ensure he stays in power Najib embarked on rewarding his sycophants, create a positive albeit a false image of himself, rent several crowds to portray his popularity to the naïve voters through the mainstream media, while embarking on his Transformation Programs.
Then he instructed Datuk Seri Idris Jala to produce dubious statistics to convince the ignorant people whom he thought would be impressed. But that effort was not successful because the youth of today especially those who entered the universities had gone back to tell the kampong folks that Umno/Najib was up to no good!
When the RM250 million NFC debacle in Gemas unfolded, Najib refused to make things right and he used every available resources and government agencies to try cover the debacle and that has dented Umno a bit whereby some Umno leaders were not included in the list of ‘winnable candidate’ in the GE-13.
The then Wanita Umno Deputy Chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim left the party to contest in Kuala Kangsar as an independent. The anger and hate against Najib started to simmer.
Then again, when Najib insisted that he was the one who should have the final say in deciding who should be in the list, ignoring the wishes of the grass root supporters, Najib failed in winning Selangor. Well he thought by bribing the people with BR1M they will all vote for Umno/BN; Najib was wrong and now he has not enough money to give BR1M anymore!
Najib was shown the yellow card by Dr. Mahathir who said that Najib had done worse than Tun Abdullah Badawi and should resign.
Ordinary people no longer want Najib, only the corrupt Umno warlords who want to safeguard their 'allocations'
The two BERSIH peace gatherings were clear signs that Najib refused to take heed in trying to improve things in Malaysia especially in the elections by not using the Election Commissions and the government machineries and assets to win elections.
Najib went on as usual but many ordinary people have woke up from their slumber in wanting to change the government, thus more anti-Umno and pro-PR NGos were formed. Unfortunately PERKASA lead by Datuk Ibrahim Ali was not much help for Umno/Najib and at times became the pain in the butt. In the end Dr. Mahathir who was the patron distanced himself from PERKASA which has some positive impact on Dr. Mahathir. In fact Dr. Mahathir even denied being the patron!
Social and racial tensions erupted and yet Najib did not do anything at all. The anger and hate for Najib started to boil. People are more vocal and the anti-Najib group started to appear from hiding, led by Dr. Mahathir.
Prosperous couple
Najib was hoping that Dr. Mahathir would not succeed in removing him with the attacks because the people hate Dr. Mahathir and Najib has placed all his men in important places and Najib was invincible more so when he has IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar as his ‘bouncer’.
Scandal after scandal
Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin became the first Umno veteran to voice his views against Najib. The Datuk A.Kadir Jasin and even Tun Daim Zainuddin joined in the fray. When these three Dr. Mahathir’s strongmen have openly spilled out their disgust against Najib, several Umno leaders began to be bold enough to criticize him.
But it takes a person like Dr. Mahathir to give real momentum to remove Najib from power. Previously there were not many issues for Dr. Mahathir to use as bullets to attack Najib, but starting with the conviction of Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri by the High Court where Sirul had fled to Australia with the deadly secrets increased the temperature of the already boiling anger and hatred of those against Najib. Dr. Mahathir just fell short of accusing Najib of giving the order to kill Altantuya! Still Najib ignored it and could not be bothered to answer his critics.
Najib continued to be insensitive towards the people when he played golf with US President Barrack Obama while the people were inundated by huge floods. He came back only after being criticized but left his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to overlook the refurbishment of a new jet plane in the US. That new jet plane cost about half a billion ringgit when Malaysians are having a hard time making ends meet. This too has angered many people and Dr. Mahathir got more disappointed.
Shock 'missing' money, Felda debacle & now Tabung Haji
Then with the exposure of the huge losses of the 1MDB to a tune of RM42 billion into dubious overseas venture, the flow of funds to questionable investment destinations involving Jho Lo, implicating Najib’s step son and the pornographic Wall Street movie, Dr. Mahathir showed the red card to Najib; he has to go and in fact he has over stayed his welcome.
Najib tried to borrow money to save 1MDB but every bank refused to lend even a single sen to him. Najib had to get the help of Ananda Krishnan and later planned to use the public funds to bail out 1MDB. The EPF was his first target, but the plan was leaked. His enemies has pre-empted his moves. They are just waiting to pounce on Najib if caught red-handed trying to steal the money!
The recent Rompin and Permatang Pauh by-elections are the torpedoes that have been used to hit Najib and unfortunately for him Najib did not realize what had hit him!
Ultimately with the exposure of the TH-1MDB land deal despite being placed under the OSA, Najib was caught red-handed indeed! Inadvertently Najib has given the button of the laser guided Stinger missile to his attackers to hit him direct into oblivion.
Artists like Datuk Siti NurHalizah, Rosita Che Wan, the Mufti of Perlis Datuk Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and even Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom the de facto Religious Minister and many other important figures have all questioned and surprised at the TH-1MDB land deal. Some leaders of BN component parties have also joined in asking Najib to tell the people the truth on the TH-1MDB land deal.
People should also not forget how the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) settlers were cheated into buying the FGV shares, the much hyped scheme enriching a few of Najib’s cronies. The settlers had used their land as collateral for loans from the banks in buying the FGV shares lured by Dato’ Seri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, the FGVH Chairman who has a hold on Najib in his purported scandal with an artist in Port Dickson.
The settlers are at risk of losing their lands. This has also angered the naïve FELDA settlers and they too are not happy with Najib.
TH also was instructed to buy the FGV shares and some reports have stated the TH has lost about RM346 million when the FGV share dropped from RM 4.55 and now hovering just about RM2.00 per share. TH is the second largest shareholder in FGV, having about 7.78% stake after FELDA, which has a 34% stake in FGV. Since this has not been capitalized by his attackers, Najib has just lucky, but many must have cursed him and may be that really had some impact on his unfortunate fate eventually.
Temporary respite, hostilities to continue after Umno's 'birthday' bash
Dr M
Najib's men have started to distance themselves from Najib and Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak will soon be the lone voice foolish enough to still continue supporting Najib. Datuk Ahmad Mazlan, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Datuk Seri Mohd Sabri Yaakob and Ku Nan will eventually stop commenting because they know defending Najib is going to be a futile effort and detrimental to their political future!
But what does Najib expect, after so many scandals and stealing so much money, he refuses to go and tries to play emperor! Of course many people do not like Dr. Mahathir, but they hate Najib most! Even some opposition leaders are backing Dr. Mahathir now!
Najib has he himself to blame for his fall from grace and power. He is undisputedly going to be the most hated Prime Minister of Malaysia and he has failed miserably to use the trust and chances to be one of the best PMs.
Indeed his legacies would be of blunders, scandals, stealing and good for nothing Prime Minister who only realized too late that he has been exposed naked but never once an emperor. - MAILBAG
